Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad was opened in the year 1976 after bifurcating from Passport Office, Madras to serve the people of Andhra Pradesh. The Passport Office was started as a small organization and after 23 years of public service the workload has increased more than 10 fold with corresponding increase in staff strength. Today, it has grown into the second biggest office next to Mumbai office.


In Secunderabad, which is very close to the railway station, bus stop and airport. As the input is increasing considerably and also there was a great pressure from the people of coastal region, Ministry of External Affairs had felt a need to have one more office in Andhra Pradesh. Passport Office, Vishakhapatnam was opened on 17 January 1997 covering 5 coastal districts i.e. Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vishakhapatnam, East Godavari and West GodavarI districts.


Office Space: We have shifted to our own premises in Secunderabad, which has three floors consisting of 60,432 sq. ft. There is a proposal to construct residential complex within the premises of the new office.

Special Features ::

Special Counters:

Various special counters have been setup at Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad. For instance, special counters are there for ladies, senior citizens, physically handicapped persons, two enquiry counters and one reception counter purely meant for redressing the public grievances and fixing up appointments with the Public Relation Officers and the Regional Passport Officer.


Passport Camps and Passport 'Adalath:'


Passport camps are being held at regular intervals even after bifurcation of Visakhapatnam Office and opening up of PACCs at Vijayawada and Tirupati. Another special feature of this Office is organizing "Passport Adalath" at this office every Wednesday between 2.30 PM - 4.30PM for redressal of various grievances, particularly clearing of heldup cases.


Tele-enquiry:


For the last three years, tele-enquiry is operative in this Office. At present, four telephone lines have been allotted to the tele-enquiry with hunting facility for the convenience of the public. This helps the public to a great extent and reduces lot of inconvenience.


Speed-Post:


All the Passports are being dispatched to the addresses by speed post so as to reach the applicant within 24 hours.


Computerisation:


Processing of applications in this office has been fully computerized, right from accepting fees at the counters till the dispatch of the passports. All the records of last 10 years in index section including PAC, Suspect Index and Emergency Certificates have been fully computerized and almost ready for online indexing.


All reports, statements, reference letters are generated from computers; Pay rolls of this office have also been computerized. Status enquiry of fresh/miscellaneous cases is readily available on computer. Overall computerization has made the processing of the applications simple, accurate and fast.


Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad is primarily responsible for issuance of Indian Passports to the Citizens of India who are residing within its jurisdictional area. In addition to issue of passports, various other miscellaneous services like change of address in passport, additional endorsement regarding Emigration Check Not Required, Police Clearance Certificate, inclusion of spouse' name etc. are also being rendered by this office irrespective of the fact whether the original passport is issued by Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad or not, provided they stay in the area of jurisdiction of RPO, Hyderabad


Modes of Filing Applications ::

Procedure for Applying Passport : MODES OF FILING APPLICATIONS


1. Direct submission at counters & through authorised representatives of applicant.


2. Direct submission at the respective Passport Application Collection Centers viz., Vijayawada and Tirupati,


3. Passport Application Collection Centres at Post Offices.


4. Through Travel Agents approved by IATA and TAAI. Normally public dealing is limited only in the forenoon i.e. from 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Enquiries on status of passport applications can also be had in the afternoon in addition to forenoon meeting time.


5. E-Seva Centres in Twin Cities ( Hyderabad & Secunderabad)


6. Passport Application Collection Centres in all District S.P.Offices.


When applying in person:


all copies of documents have to be self-attested; all original documents to be produced at counter which could be taken back after attestation by counter officials


Fees Structure:


The following all-inclusive fee is to be paid along with the application form, either by Bank Draft in favour of the Passport Officer concerned or in cash. In case of DD, full name of applicant and application number to be written on the reverse of the draft. The Bank Code of Issuing Bank, the Demand Draft Number and date of issue of the Demand Draft should be mentioned.Details of payment of fee may be mentioned in the relevant boxes in the application form.


1. Fresh Passport (36 pages) of 10 years validity = Rs. 1,000/-
(including minors between 15 to 18 years of age, who wish to get a 10 years full validity passport)


2. Fresh Passport (60 pages) of 10 years validity = Rs. 1,500/-


3. Fresh Passport for Minors (below 18 years of Age) of 5 years validity or till the minor attains the age of 18 which ever is earlier = Rs 600/-


4. Duplicate Passport (36 pages) in lieu of lost, damaged or stolen passport = Rs. 2500/-


5. Duplicate Passport (60 pages) in lieu of lost, damaged or stolen passport = Rs. 3000/-


6. Police Clearance Certificate/ ECNR/Additional Endorsements Rs.300/-


7. In case of Change of Address, Name, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Appearance, Spouse Name, Name of Parents/Legal Guardian = Rs.1000/- [Fresh passport booklet will be issued]


If the application for a new passport is made under Tatkaal scheme, tatkaal fee is to be paid in addition to the application fee mentioned above.
